Fat Dissolving Injections

A non-surgical fat reduction treatment

Fat dissolving injections  resulting in a safe, permanent and effective reduction of fat. ‘The slimming effect takes place gradually, there is no hospital stay, no general anaesthetic, minimal discomfort and bruising. This is a minimally invasive treatment option for men and women who want to reduce stubborn pockets of localised subcutaneous fat without surgery and less recovery time. The treatment is gentle, virtually pain-free, low risk   and does not take long.

 It works by melting or liquefying the fat calls, the products of which are naturally removed by your body’s lymphatic system.

The treatment is ideal for people who have a healthy diet and exercise plan but cannot reduce small but resistant areas such as double chin, saddle bags, tummy, inner thighs, upper arms or knees. A healthy diet cannot target weight loss to certain parts of the body and not everyone can spend hours in the gym working on problem areas.

the active substance is a gel-based aqueous solution that dissolves fat. It is bio-compatible and biodegradable and contains deoxycholic acid, which is actually produced by the body in the liver to aid with the digestion of fat.

Treatment areas

It can be used to treat pockets of fat that are difficult to remove through diet and exercise alone:

• Double chin
• Pre-jowl sulcus
• Upper arms
• Armpits
• Waist
• Fat deposits on buttocks, chest and inner thighs
• Knees
• Hips
• Saddle bags

Treatment

Injections  into the target area will gently and slowly release the fat by breaking down the fat cell walls. The body metabolises the released lipids and the fat cells in the area being treated are permanently destroyed. Clients report minimal discomfort during the treatment and the effects will start to become visible after a week or two. The time taken for a treatment session will depend upon the size of the area and site being treated. Generally it takes between 30-60 minutes per treatment and the patient will typically require 2-8 treatments, 4 weeks apart. Some people may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions.

Requires a special injection technique and because subcutaneous fat contains little or no nerves and a local anaesthetic is also used the treatment is usually well tolerated by patients. An optional ultrasound device is then applied over the surface of the skin in the targeted area and this causes the movement of liquids both inside and outside the fat cells.

Aftercare

Massage (manual or ultrasound) is helpful to increase circulation and enhance the result.

After the treatment, the fat cells in the target area are destroyed so with a healthy diet and exercise plan, it is easy to maintain the new body shape.

We may advise you to wear a compression garment for a few weeks and there might be a little bruising, itchiness or redness that will quickly subside. Wearing a tight workout garment that compresses the injection site may decrease the discomfort you experience while exercising.

You should probably refrain from any strenuous exercise on the day you receive your injections and stick to gentle exercises for about a week following procedure.

How many  treatments will I need?

Fat cells that have once been dissolved do not return. Some people may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions. Generally it takes between 30-60 minutes per treatment and the patient will typically require 2-8 treatments.  The injections are repeated every four weeks.

Treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin, may require 1-3 treatments of 2-3 injections, while treatment for fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require 8

The result

The effects will start to become visible after 1-2 weeks. A course of treatments, between 3 and 6 sessions, is generally required to achieve the desired result but this will vary according to each patient.

Does it hurt?

Clients report minimal discomfort during the treatment.  Our doctor may add lidocaine, a local anaesthetic, to the injection solution so that the two are injected together.  This should minimise discomfort during the procedure.
